Manufactured in the 1930s, this is an extremely rare “banana” wide-step rectangular model by International, powered by the renowned Cal. 87 movement, and featuring a two-tone dial with circular finishing.
Among International watches of this era—where simple and relatively small cases are more commonly seen—this is a rare piece distinguished by its so-called “banana” case: a substantial, wide-step rectangular design with a strong presence. The oversized case, measuring 23mm in width and 43mm in length, features rounded case sides, and combined with the wide-step design and elongated proportions, delivers an impressive and commanding wrist presence.
The dial is also highly unusual, featuring a rare two-tone configuration with horizontal and circular finishing, differing from the more typical vertical and horizontal patterns. The compact, well-balanced dial design harmonizes beautifully with the rugged wide rectangular case, resulting in an exceptionally valuable and distinctive piece.
It is equipped with the celebrated rectangular movement Cal. 87, one of International’s most iconic calibers.
