This is a beautiful and extremely rare early automatic "Stapler" model by Wyler, manufactured in the 1930s. The model is affectionately nicknamed "Stapler" (like a stapler/Hotchkiss) and is a highly unique and rare early automatic watch.
It features an ingenious and unprecedented mechanism: by moving the hinged case back up and down like a stapler, a pin presses into the inner case, winding the mainspring—an automatic movement unlike any other.
Time adjustment is done via a backwind crown, which is pulled forward and turned.
The substantial wide rectangular case embodies functional beauty, and the Art Deco sector dial vividly reflects the design sensibilities of the era. This is a truly valuable and historically significant piece.
