Manufactured in the mid-1930s, this is an extremely rare “Duo Dial” doctor’s watch by Universal Watch, featuring a black dial.
It is a particularly scarce doctor’s watch among the valuable early Universal Watch pieces produced before the brand became known as Universal Genève. The dial is a rare black example with white lettering, made prior to the gilt dials seen on Universal Watch chronographs from the same era. It beautifully showcases the refined design characteristic of the period, along with the distinctive originality unique to doctor’s watches, making it a truly outstanding piece.
The long rectangular case measures 19mm in width and 40mm in length. Powering the watch is the rare rectangular Cal. 42 movement—an unusual choice for Universal, a brand that produced numerous chronographs regardless of era.
A vintage strap matching the watch case is included.
