Unnamed, manufactured circa 1940, SS screw back 3-register chronograph with early Valjoux 72, very rare, beautiful black snailed dial. Equipped with a rare early Valjoux 72, which is different from the later 72 in construction, including the carrying arm and intermediate wheel that connect the watch and chronograph. The multi-scale dial with ground-out minute track, telemeter, and snailed tachymeter is a design seen on the Valjoux 22 and 71, but rarely seen on the 23 and 72, and the screw-back water-resistant case with big crown, which is rare for a 72 equipped watch. This is a rare watch that seems to have been produced in very small numbers between 1938 and 1940, when the Valjoux 72 was introduced. The mechanical and concentrated feel of the multi-scale and three-register chronograph, and the massive feel of an early water-resistant chronograph, make this a wonderful piece that will appeal to chronograph enthusiasts. The back of the watch is engraved.
