This is an early-1950s Rolex Oyster Chronograph Ref. 6034 “Pre-Daytona” in stainless steel, featuring the rare Super Oyster case and a powder-white dial.
Produced before the celebrated “Pre-Daytona” references 6238 and 6234, the Ref. 6034 is one of Rolex’s highly desirable early Oyster chronographs. The powder-white dial, also found on the contemporary “Killy Watch” Ref. 6036, displays the distinctive character unique to chronographs of this era, combining a black tachymeter scale and blue telemeter scale around the outer edge with wedge-shaped indexes and elegant alpha hands.
Among the many variations of the Oyster Chronograph, the Super Oyster case was manufactured for only a very short period, significantly enhancing the rarity of this particular example. Furthermore, while powder-white dials are especially prone to aging and discoloration, this watch has remarkably retained its original bright white appearance, making it an exceptionally scarce and desirable specimen.
The watch is powered by the legendary Valjoux Caliber 72, one of the most respected manual-wind chronograph movements ever produced.
It is accompanied by a Rolex Oyster rivet bracelet (6635, FF60, dated 3/65), suitable for wrist sizes up to approximately 18 cm (7.1 inches).
