Manufactured in the 1950s, this is a Mido “Multifort Powerwind” Cal.917P full-rotor automatic waterproof model featuring a rare black gloss dial.
Produced from the 1930s through the 1970s, the Multifort series was a hallmark of Mido, offering a wide variety of models including manual and automatic movements, as well as round and rectangular cases.
This particular piece is equipped with the full-rotor automatic movement Cal.917P, fitted with an anti-shock device. The solid screw-back waterproof case—engraved “POWERWIND,” “ANTIMAGNETIC,” “STAINLESS-STEEL,” “SHOCKRESISTANT,” and “WATERPROOF”—is built for excellent practicality. The matching serial numbers on the caseback and middle case are reminiscent of the construction quality seen in vintage FB cases.
The refined black gilt dial, featuring applied wedge indexes and dauphine hands, showcases the high level of quality and design characteristic of the era—an exceptional timepiece that embodies the sophistication of mid-century Mido craftsmanship.
