This is a 1940s Leonidas stainless steel chronograph featuring the renowned Valjoux 72 movement and a silver dial with a bold Arabic numeral design. It houses an early version of the Valjoux 72, which is rare for the 1940s. At first glance, the dial appears simple, but the large Arabic numerals and the rare purple steel hands—also seen in Ulysse Nardin models from the same era—give it an outstanding vintage character.
While Leonidas is not a widely known brand, it produced military models and high-quality chronographs. There are signs of aging, but this contributes to its character and makes it a reasonably priced, high-quality chronograph.
