Manufactured in the late 1930s, this is a beautiful example of an International (IWC) watch equipped with the renowned Caliber 83 movement. It features a popular waterproof Calatrava design and a very rare black sandwich dial.
Among vintage watches in general—and especially within International's lineup—this piece stands out as an ultra-rare model due to its use of a sandwich dial. Constructed using a distinctive method characteristic of the era, the two-layer dial is secured with screws at all four corners (top, bottom, left, and right). This creates a unique appearance that differs from printed or applied indexes, offering a special charm appreciated by collectors.
Additionally, the well-preserved black dial significantly enhances the rarity and value of the piece.
It is housed in an early screw-back waterproof case and powered by the Cal. 83, International’s iconic small seconds movement.
