A beautifully preserved Omega from the late 1930s, featuring the Cal. 26.5 movement and housed in a rare stainless steel 37mm oversized case with a Big Calatrava design.
This is a particularly rare piece, as most watches equipped with the Cal. 26.5 are typically found in smaller cases around 30mm; the use of a large 37mm Calatrava-style case makes this example especially uncommon.
The dial showcases a striking black sector design—often referred to as a “hachimaki” (headband) style—with thickly printed white lettering on a glossy black mirror base, a technique seen prior to the era of gilt dials. This detail reflects the aesthetics of the time and makes it a highly valuable piece.
It is powered by the Cal. 26.5SOB, a hand-wound movement that was widely used in manual-wind Omega models before the introduction of the famed 30mm caliber.
