This is a fine example of the Patek Philippe Ref. 1576, manufactured in the 1940s—a rare wide rectangular model in 18k yellow gold featuring an elegant fancy-lug design. Although the fancy-lug rectangular case gives an initially delicate impression, it is in fact a wide-format case measuring 25 mm in width and 42 mm in length.
The dial displays an exceptional design, with applied long baton indexes and inlaid Roman numeral indexes arranged in a roulette-style layout. Combined with the wide rectangular case, this watch stands out with remarkable presence among Patek Philippe’s diverse range of rectangular models from the period.
The watch is powered by the Cal. 9-90, regarded as one of the finest vintage rectangular movements. It is accompanied by its original 18k gold Patek Philippe buckle. The Extract from the Archives will be provided at a later date. This is a highly valuable example originally retailed by the long-established Swiss jeweler Gübelin.
