Manufactured in the 1950s, this Tissot “Navigator” World Time Automatic is a beautifully preserved and extremely rare model crafted in solid 18K pink gold.
Created in 1953 to commemorate Tissot’s 100th anniversary, the Navigator is a masterpiece of world time design. The central rotating disc — printed with the names of major cities around the world — works in conjunction with the hour and minute hands and a 24-hour scale to allow the wearer to read the time in multiple time zones at a glance. The button positioned at 2 o’clock enables adjustment between local time and home time.
The distinctive two-tone dial, characteristic of early world time watches, reflects both the ingenuity and aesthetic sophistication of the era — qualities that remain impressive even by modern standards. Several case variations were produced, including all–stainless steel, steel-back, and 14K solid gold versions, but this example stands out as an exceptionally rare solid 18K pink gold model.
Beyond its rarity, the watch is in remarkable preservation — a true collector’s piece. It is powered by the bumper automatic movement Cal.28.5N-21T.
