Manufactured in the mid-1930s, this is a Universal Genève “Compur” chronograph equipped with the renowned Cal.285 movement.
At first glance, the dial appears simple, yet its design — combining Gothic-style Arabic numerals with blued steel baton hands — evokes a charming vintage aesthetic. The embossed steel case with soldered lugs further reflects the transitional period between Universal Watch and Universal Genève, making this an exceptionally valuable piece.
It houses the celebrated Cal.285, a movement that became the hallmark of Universal’s chronographs from the 1930s through the 1960s. This particular example features one of the early versions where the caliber number was first engraved on the movement.
