This is a mid-1940s Rolex Oyster Bubble Back Ref. 2940 in stainless steel, featuring an applied Arabic numeral dial. Unlike the printed or luminous Roman indices often seen from this period, this watch uses rare embossed applied indices. The three-dimensional pink-colored Arabic numerals give it a luxurious presence, and the evenly aged patina across the entire dial creates a wonderfully attractive vintage character.
The two-piece case, with the bezel integrated into the middle case, has a solid and substantial construction. Despite its compact 31mm size, it possesses the distinctive presence of a Bubble Back equipped with an automatic movement.
