Manufactured in 1951, this is a beautiful example of the Patek Philippe Ref. 2461 wide rectangular model in 18K yellow gold, featuring a rare two-tone finish dial.
While the preceding Ref. 425 and many Ref. 2461 models are commonly seen with single-tone dials, this piece is fitted with a rare two-tone dial in which the upper and lower sections are diagonally finished in different textures. Unlike the more typical vertical or horizontal two-tone layouts, this distinctive diagonal treatment offers a uniquely expressive and refined appearance.
At first glance, the case appears orthodox in design, yet with a width of 22mm, a lug-to-lug length of 42mm, and a 19mm strap width, it has a strong presence on the wrist. The solid gold wide rectangular case conveys the substantial weight and gravitas characteristic of such designs.
It is powered by Patek Philippe’s in-house Cal. 9-90, regarded as one of the finest rectangular movements ever produced. An extract from the archives is included.
