Manufactured in the 1940s, this Baume & Mercier “PRIMA” is a rare square baby chronograph in 18K pink gold, powered by the scarce Valjoux 69, and featuring a black gilt snail dial.
Among the already rare baby chronographs, this example is particularly unusual with its square case. The substantial case form unique to the square design, combined with the intricately detailed and complex black gilt dial, beautifully expresses the character and refined taste of the era.
It is equipped with the renowned Cal. 69 manufactured by Valjoux, regarded as one of the “big three” baby chronograph movements.
“PRIMA” means “first” or “finest” in Italian, and true to its name, this watch offers a high-grade finish befitting the designation—featuring a precious metal case, a top-tier movement, and a high-quality dial.
