Circa 1940 Universal Genève Compax, equipped with the renowned Cal. 285, housed in a 38mm waterproof “Spillmann” case. This is an অত্যremely rare original black dial, 3-register chronograph.

Within Spillmann cases, two-register silver dials are more commonly seen, and even black dials are often found without a tachymeter scale. In contrast, this example features a very rare 3-register black tachymeter dial. Its classic vintage design combines Arabic numerals with bar indices, while the aged luminous material on the indices has developed a rich patina, giving the watch an exceptional vintage character.

Notably, this rare black dial is executed entirely in gilt—extending beyond the tachymeter and minute track to include the “UNIVERSAL GENEVE” and “COMPAX” signatures. As black dials typically feature printed logos and model names, an all-gilt dial like this is particularly valuable and highly collectible.
