A beautiful example of the Vacheron Constantin Ref. 4238, produced in the early 1950s, featuring a tonneau-shaped design, silver dial, and an 18K yellow gold case.
The elegant 18K yellow gold case combines a tonneau shape with distinctive fancy lugs and houses the rare cushion-shaped Cal. 457 movement. The dial is of inlaid construction, featuring an intricate multi-index layout that blends applied Arabic numerals, wedge markers, and triangular markers, all meticulously faceted with multiple planes—demonstrating an exceptional level of craftsmanship.
Preserved in outstanding, untouched condition with no signs of polishing, the watch showcases a superbly executed high-quality dial and a uniquely designed crown not seen on other models. Despite its modest size, it delivers a presence that exceeds its dimensions.
It also comes with its original period tag bearing the reference and serial numbers, making it an especially valuable and collectible piece.
