An early 1940s IWC stainless steel cylinder-design model powered by Cal. 61, featuring an extremely rare Freccero dial.
Double-signed models from the Italian-South American jeweler Freccero are often referred to as “Freccero dials.” They are characterized by a gilt-produced Roman numeral dial signed “FRECCERO,” along with the “IWC” logo—commonly also engraved on the caseback. This distinctive design is seen not only with Cal. 61 but also on examples fitted with Cal. 83.
The dial, combining applied Roman numerals (with alternating markers) and baton hands, is simple yet elegant. The symmetry unique to a center-seconds layout further enhances its beauty. Together with the unpolished cylinder case, it presents a presence that exceeds its size.
This piece is equipped with the rare center-seconds movement Cal. 61.
