A rare early-1950s Longines First Automatic powered by the Cal.22AS, featuring a beautiful tropical dial.
The watch is equipped with the in-house automatic Cal.22AS movement, introduced by Longines in 1945 as the brand’s first self-winding caliber. Its black gilt dial has aged gracefully over time into a rich brown tone—commonly referred to as a “tropical” dial—creating a striking harmony with the yellow gold-filled case and its elegant fancy-lug design.
The dial features applied indexes paired with dolphin hands, while the “LONGINES,” “AUTOMATIC,” and “SWISS” signatures are all executed in gilt printing, showcasing the exceptional level of craftsmanship characteristic of these first-generation automatic models. An outstanding and highly collectible example.
