Manufactured in the early 1940s, this IWC is powered by the Cal. 61 movement and features the highly sought-after “Hermet” waterproof Calatrava-style case with a rare Big Luminous Arabic dial.
It houses the early center-seconds Cal. 61 movement within a Hermet snap-back waterproof case, renowned for its excellent airtightness and water resistance. At first glance, the dial appears to be a conventional luminous Arabic design, but when compared to the standard luminous Arabic dials found in the same case style, the oversized numerals are immediately apparent. Despite its modest dimensions, the exceptionally large indexes give the watch a striking and highly distinctive presence.
The Cal. 61 fitted to this example is a special specification, featuring a movement adjusted to three positions, unlike the standard versions. Another appealing characteristic is the substantial, robust construction unique to these early waterproof cases, lending the watch a remarkable sense of solidity and quality.
