Manufactured in the 1940s, this stainless steel Lemania chronograph is powered by the rare Cal. 13CH and features an uncommon screw-back waterproof case with a striking three-color scale dial.
It houses the highly sought-after Lemania Cal. 13CH, a movement produced by Lemania, the renowned manufacturer that also supplied movements to Omega and Tissot. Compared with the contemporary Cal. 15TL, the 13CH was produced and distributed in far smaller numbers. Furthermore, while most chronographs of this era were fitted with non-waterproof cases, this example employs a waterproof screw-back case, making it an especially rare piece.
The robust 33mm waterproof case exudes a substantial presence, while its seemingly oversized pushers and crown lend it the distinctive character of an early waterproof chronograph. Combined with the intricate and highly detailed three-color scale dial, the watch presents a wonderfully compact and richly layered vintage aesthetic.
Lemania chronographs of this period are highly regarded not only for their exceptional movements but also for their outstanding dial and case designs, which share the same high standards of quality and styling seen in contemporary Omega and Tissot models. This is a superb example of Lemania’s craftsmanship and one of the finest expressions of mid-century chronograph design.
