Manufactured around 1940, this Omega features the legendary 30mm caliber and a rare Breguet-numeral-style dial, housed in an early dustproof case.
The watch is powered by Omega’s renowned Cal. 30T2, one of the brand’s most celebrated movements. It is fitted in an early dustproof case design that houses the movement from the caseback side, providing excellent protection against dust and debris—a construction also seen on some contemporary models equipped with the Cal. 26.5.
The silver dial, beautifully complemented by blued steel hands, features uniquely styled numerals reminiscent of classic Breguet numerals, giving the watch a distinctive and elegant appearance.
With its dustproof case, experimental waterproof and protective case designs, and wide variety of dial configurations, this piece exemplifies Omega’s period of innovation and refinement before the 30mm caliber line reached its later, more standardized form. It is a fascinating example of the brand’s trial-and-error approach during this formative era.
The bezel is exceptionally thin, allowing for a large dial opening. As a result, despite its modest 35mm case diameter, the watch has a wrist presence that feels considerably larger than its dimensions would suggest.
