Manufactured in the 1930s, this is an exceptionally rare Oyster Watch Company cushion-form wristwatch featuring an early four-piece case and a black sector dial.
The cushion-shaped case has the four-piece construction shared with early Rolex Bubbleback, Flatback, and solid-gold models. It is fitted with the Eglagler-manufactured Cal. 9-3/4 movement, also found in the Flatback and first-generation Viceroy models.
The dial is a particularly noteworthy feature: a semi-gloss black mirror-finish dial without numerals, sometimes referred to as the “Tokyo” dial. Together with its distinctive case construction and movement, this example is believed to be one of the earliest models produced by Oyster Watch Company, making it an exceptionally rare and historically important timepiece.
