Manufactured in the early 1940s, this rare vintage International Watch Company model is presented in mint condition, featuring the renowned Caliber 83 manual-winding movement, a highly desirable 35mm “Big Calatrava” style case, and a black gilt dial.
Among the rare 35mm cases produced by International, the particularly sought-after Calatrava-style case is complemented by an intricately executed black gilt dial. The dial features gilt Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12, combined with engraved dot markers, creating a sophisticated and elaborate design. The dial is further distinguished by its pink lettering, a particularly rare detail among black-dial examples. Its exceptional rarity among vintage International watches, together with its remarkably well-preserved condition, makes this an especially outstanding example.
The watch is accompanied by what appears to be its original vintage strap from the period.
Adding to its appeal, the case is stamped “Rostfreier Stahl,” the German term for stainless steel, making this a particularly unusual example.
Inside is the legendary Caliber 83, one of International’s most iconic manual-winding movements.
