Manufactured around 1940, this rare IWC Calatrava features the legendary Cal. 83 movement, a Staybrite stainless steel screw-back case, and an exceptionally rare sector dial.
It is powered by IWC’s iconic Cal. 83, one of the company’s most celebrated small-seconds movements. The rare sector dial, sometimes referred to as a “3-baka” dial, features a silver base with contrasting white and mirror-finished tracks, along with mirror-coated Arabic numerals. These elements are beautifully complemented by blued-steel sword hands, creating the distinctive character found on fine vintage Cal. 83 examples.
Combined with the substantial screw-back waterproof case, the watch possesses a wonderfully compact and cohesive presence. A truly exceptional and highly collectible example showcasing the classic elegance and refined character of early IWC Cal. 83 wristwatches.
