Late 1950s Rolex Oyster Chronograph Ref. 6234 "Pre-Daytona" with Silver Dial and Small-Eye Configuration
Manufactured in the late 1950s, this Rolex Oyster Chronograph Ref. 6234 is a highly desirable "Pre-Daytona" model, produced before the introduction of the Ref. 6238. The plain silver dial, unlike the sunburst silver dials found on later examples, features both tachymeter and telemeter scales around the outer track, complemented by applied wedge-shaped hour markers and elegant alpha hands—hallmarks of this era's distinctive design language.
A particularly noteworthy feature is its "small-eye" dial configuration, in which the chronograph subdials are positioned closer together and rendered slightly smaller than on standard Ref. 6234 models. Among the many dial variations of the Pre-Daytona, this uncommon layout stands out for its originality and unique visual appeal.
The dial shows signs of age consistent with its vintage character. However, the watch retains its correct short chronograph pushers as well as the original hands specific to the small-eye variant, making it an attractive and increasingly scarce collector's piece. Owing to the dial's aging, it is offered at a price considerably below the current market level.
The watch is accompanied by its original Rolex riveted bracelet, suitable for wrist sizes up to 19 cm (approximately 7.5 inches).
