Produced in the 1940s, this Bulova is the exceptionally rare “Type A-15.” Approximately 500 examples were produced experimentally between 1944 and 1945 for the U.S. Army Air Forces, making this an extremely rare piece.

Known as an “Elapsed Time Watch,” the A-15 was designed as an instrument for pilots to instantly read elapsed time during flight. The crown at 2 o’clock operates the minute scale, while the crown at 4 o’clock corresponds to the hour scale, allowing elapsed time to be read in minutes.

Following approximately two years of testing, the A-15 was ultimately never officially adopted. As a result, it is considerably rarer than military watches that received official military adoption, making this a particularly exceptional collector’s piece.

The dial, born out of a strong emphasis on functionality, is intricate and highly complex, offering not only excellent practicality but also a fascinating and distinctive design. It is powered by the Cal. 10AKCSH, equipped with a hacking function.

A beautifully matched cotton strap is included, complementing the watch perfectly.

Dial: Shows slight signs of aging, but retains its intricate printing and original luminescent markings.

Movement: Winding and other functions work properly. The accuracy is approximately ±40 seconds per day.
