Manufactured in the mid-1940s, this rare Universal Genève in 18K pink gold is fitted with the early bumper automatic Cal. 139 and features an Art Deco silver dial.
While Universal Genève is best known for its chronographs, this example is distinguished by its uncommon early bumper automatic movement, Cal. 139. Despite its compact 30mm case, the solid 18K pink gold construction and square design lend the watch a substantial, imposing presence.
The silver dial features a distinctive Art Deco layout, combining Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock with dot indexes. Its elegant design is a fine reflection of the period’s aesthetic and makes this an exceptionally rare and appealing example.
The double-signed dial bearing the name of Henrique Pfeffer, a watch and jewelry retailer in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, further enhances the rarity and historical interest of this remarkable timepiece.
